I’m so happy to be part of this community of readers! It is, to me, a profound experience the way that we are reading and responding at different times (diachronically, I think would be the technical term?). Is anyone else moved by this expansion of fellowship in time? Dickinson so often writes retrospectively in her poems, as one, for example, who has already died. I don’t doubt that she would be keenly aware of the indifference and vastness of time between us as we share our thoughts. Perhaps it is too much to say that “Worlds scoop their Arcs,” but it feels close to that, as I contemplate Susan reaching 600 over 10 years ago! That you were writing in the last year of the Obama administration amazes me. So much has happened since (politically, yes, but also for me personally), and yet this exchange between big-hearted readers remains as fresh as ever in 2025. Thank you all. On to the next 600. Looking forward to the hand-off to dscribe and how that is handled — it’s as if I can see the future. :)
Yes! Congratulations. It is like building the pyramids. You are entitled to a cool glass of lemonade under a tree every now and then.
