Also, ED reverses the emotional message of the poem by deleting “afflicts us” in Line 10, replacing it with the word “enamored”. Why did she make these changes?

Perhaps germane, ED signed Variant A "Emily", intending it for Susan Dickinson, to whom a note is penned at the head of the poem: "Excuse me – Dollie”. However, the manuscript was never folded and evidently not sent (Franklin 1998).

Perhaps germane, Susan’s first child, Ned, was an infant when ED wrote the poem.

On the other hand, perhaps ungermane. We’ll never know.
Larry Bnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4029797379711350813.post-91128422404694640642016-04-21T21:50:55.417-07:002016-04-21T21:50:55.417-07:00ITS REALLY VERY USEFUL...THANK YOU.ITS REALLY VERY USEFUL...THANK YOU.Pooja G Phttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01377734511309446118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4029797379711350813.post-53062677009253161462016-03-10T04:48:15.265-08:002016-03-10T04:48:15.265-08:00Thank you!Thank you!Meta Larssonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04091980622802552921noreply@blogger.com
