The "Earl of Surrey" has a different spelling, as does Surrey County, England.<br /><br />Colonial Americans intentionally or more likely unintentionally ignored British spelling: Surry, Maine; Surry, New Hampshire; Surry, Virginia; Surry County, North Carolina; Surry County, Virginia.
